Network traffic or Internet traffic is the amount of information transmitted over a computer network for a certain period of time. Amount of traffic as measured in packets and in bits, bytes and their derivatives: kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), etc.
Traffic is distinguished by:
- incoming (originating from the network);
- outcoming (originating network);
- internal (within certain networks often LAN);
- external (outside the defined network, most of all - the Internet traffic).
