Overview of Aavegotchi

Aavegotchi is a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collectible with decentralized finance (DeFi) elements, launched on the Ethereum blockchain in late 2020. Developed by Pixelcraft Studios, Aavegotchi combines DeFi token collateral stakes, dynamic rarity, rarity farming, DAO-governed game mechanics, and a metaverse with mini-games. Players can purchase Gotchis as NFTs using GHST tokens and enhance their avatars through mini-games, customization, and care. The more time and resources invested, the more valuable these NFTs become. Aavegotchi is a creation of Jesse Johnson and co-founder Coder Dan, along with a team largely operating under pseudonyms.

Aavegotchis, supported by the ERC-721 standard, are rare crypto-collectibles on the Ethereum blockchain, similar to popular blockchain games like CryptoKitties and Axie Infinity. They are characterized by three main attributes: collateral stake, traits, and wearables.

MATIC network launch

On January 6, 2021, Aavegotchi partnered with Matic Network, now known as Polygon, to enhance on-chain gameplay. This collaboration allowed Aavegotchi to launch its blockchain game on Polygon, a Layer 2 solution addressing Ethereum's scalability issues. This integration offers users low transaction fees and faster settlement times.

Aavegotchi NFT marketplace

In February 2021, Aavegotchi introduced its NFT marketplace alongside Portals and Wearables, enhancing the personalization options for Gotchi frens. Polygon’s efficient transaction capabilities create an ideal environment for this marketplace.

Collateral stake

Each Aavegotchi NFT manages an escrow contract holding Aave-backed ERC20 collateral, known as aTokens. These tokens generate yield through Aave’s LendingPool, increasing the aTokens in the wallet over time.

Traits

Aavegotchis have various traits that affect their rarity and performance in mini-games. Some traits are randomly assigned at birth using ChainLink's VRF random number generator, while others are influenced by user interactions.

Kinship

"Kinship" starts at a set value and adjusts based on factors like ownership duration and interaction frequency.

Level

Aavegotchis gain experience by participating in AavegotchiDAO and mini-games, allowing them to level up and allocate Spirit Points to adjust traits.

Wearables

Aavegotchis extend the ERC998 Composables standard, enabling them to manage child NFTs, known as wearables. Not all wearables are compatible with every Aavegotchi, as compatibility depends on collateral type, level, and traits.

GHST token

GHST serves as the main utility token in the Aavegotchi ecosystem, facilitating transactions for goods within the platform, including Aavegotchis themselves. It can be staked for rewards and transferred between users like other cryptocurrencies.

Aavegotchi value

Aavegotchi's value is derived from both intrinsic and rarity factors.

Intrinsic value

The intrinsic value is determined by the staked collateral of the Aavegotchi. Initially, only ERC20 tokens listed on the Aave platform are available as collateral, but the community can vote on new collaterals once AavegotchiDAO launches.

Rarity value

Rarity value is based on the uniqueness of each Aavegotchi’s traits and wearables within the Aavegotchi universe. Unlike other NFT games, rarity in Aavegotchi can change as Aavegotchis evolve and equip different wearables, introducing the concept of "rarity farming."
