Gate (GT)
GateChain is a public blockchain designed specifically for asset security. It features on-chain secure accounts and lazy recovery mechanisms to protect blockchain assets even if a private key is compromised.
Overview
GateChain was co-founded by Wassilios Lytras, Patrick Allemann, and Thomas Kofler on April 30, 2016. Developed and launched by Gate.io in 2018, it serves to expand the Gate.io ecosystem. Founded by Lin Han, GateChain features unique Vault account technology and a supporting transactions model to secure assets and private keys. It also supports decentralized trade and transfer chains. Unlike traditional blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum, GateChain emphasizes asset chain security and introduces concepts such as standard accounts, Vault actions, and more. The Vault account service allows users to set digital asset distribution ratios and release times, ensuring asset transfer to designated beneficiaries.

Launched in 2020, the GateChain Mainnet facilitates secure and efficient management and transfer of digital assets on the blockchain.
GateChain DEX

GateChain Token (GT)
GateChain Token is the native currency of the GateChain Mainnet, primarily used for paying transfer fees on the network.
GateChain Wallets
During the testnet phase, GateChain provided desktop wallets for Windows and Mac OS. In the mainnet phase, it offered a command-line wallet, mobile wallets for Android and iOS, a web wallet, multi-signature wallets, and hardware wallets.
Asset management
To cater to daily payment needs and asset storage safety, GateChain offers:
- Standard Account: Stores a small fraction of assets for daily use, allowing instant and irreversible payments without private key restoration.
- Vault Account: Stores the majority of assets with a transfer delay period, allowing revocable transactions and private key restoration.
If a Standard Account's private key is lost or stolen, losses are limited. Users can transfer assets from the Vault Account, with a delay period allowing reversal of unauthorized transactions.
