Komodo (KMD)

Komodo is a cryptocurrency project designed to enhance privacy and security beyond that of original cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. It offers services such as BarterDex, a decentralized exchange, and Jumblr, a cryptocurrency anonymizer. Through these features, Komodo has evolved into an ecosystem and development platform, offering more than just private transactions.

Overview

The Komodo platform is built on Zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) technology, which enables a prover to confirm knowledge of certain information without revealing more than the fact of having it. This ensures that Komodo transactions can be entirely private. Additionally, Komodo employs a Delayed proof-of-work (dPoW) consensus protocol, similar to standard proof-of-work, but with an added authorization mechanism that secures the integrity of new blocks.

Key components

The Komodo blockchain platform uses its open-source cryptocurrency for transparent, anonymous, private, and fungible transactions. These transactions are secured using Bitcoin's blockchain via the dPoW protocol. Komodo also serves as the official currency for the SuperNET ecosystem. Key elements of the Komodo platform include:

  • Zcash: An open cryptocurrency project utilizing the zk-SNARK protocol.
  • Delayed Proof of Work (dPoW): A unique protocol developed by Komodo engineers.
  • SuperNET: A decentralized organization creating open-source and decentralized tools for the cryptocurrency market.

The Komodo platform allows for modularity, enabling different projects to create independent blockchains connected to Komodo. These blockchains, known as peerchains, are not confined to Komodo's blockchain and can choose to adopt future upgrades while remaining linked to the Komodo platform.
