Oasis (ROSE)
The Oasis Network, developed by Oasis Labs, is a decentralized platform that empowers users with control and ownership of their data. It is structured to support the creation of privacy-focused applications and use cases.
Overview
The Oasis Network is a privacy-centric decentralized platform built on a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. It emphasizes user data control and supports privacy-centric application development through four key features: confidentiality and data integrity, decentralized auditability, versatility, and practical performance. The network's dual-layer design consists of the Consensus Layer and the ParaTime Layer, allowing it to support multiple runtimes securely while enabling data tokenization and privacy-preserving services.

Technology
Consensus layer
The Consensus Layer is a scalable, secure proof-of-stake system operated by decentralized validator nodes. It is designed to be adaptable, handling various use cases efficiently. The layer ensures transaction accuracy and maintains an immutable record of actions. It supports confidential computing using techniques like HME and ZKP, and includes open-source components like the Oasis Eth/WASI Runtime.
ParaTime layer
The ParaTime Layer enables multiple parallel runtimes, each representing a computing environment with a shared state. It operates fully decentralized, allowing customization for specific applications. ParaTimes manage computation and ensure execution integrity through discrepancy detection. The Oasis Network includes three ParaTimes: Sapphire, Emerald, and Cipher.
Sapphire
Sapphire is a confidential Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) for Web3, offering flexible privacy for developers and users. It supports dApps with varying confidentiality levels and maintains compatibility with EVM tools like MetaMask.
Emerald
Emerald is an EVM-compatible ParaTime that enhances transaction throughput and reduces fees for Solidity developers. It offers full EVM compatibility and cross-chain functionality, using Oasis ROSE as its native token.
Cipher
Cipher uses WebAssembly (WASM) and focuses on privacy. It allows developers to build confidential dApps using the Oasis Contract SDK with Rust, providing flexibility between public and confidential data storage.
Oasis Privacy Layer (OPL)
The Oasis Privacy Layer (OPL) is an EVM-compatible solution that adds privacy to smart contracts on networks like Ethereum. It supports encrypted transactions and confidential states, allowing developers to integrate privacy features into their dApps.
Runtime Offchain Logic (ROFL)
Runtime Offchain Logic (ROFL) is a framework for decentralized, verifiable applications that preserve confidentiality. It connects custom off-chain logic to on-chain components using trusted execution environments (TEEs), enhancing performance and flexibility.
Oasis Nexus
Oasis Nexus serves as the official indexer for the Oasis Network, collecting blockchain data and storing it in an indexed SQL database. It provides a JSON-based web API for data access, supporting Web3 builders and applications.
Oasis Wallet
The Oasis Foundation offers two non-custodial wallets: Oasis Wallet - Web and Oasis Wallet - Browser Extension. These wallets facilitate storing, sending, and receiving ROSE tokens, with functionalities like transaction history viewing and staking.
Oasis Explorer
Oasis Explorer provides a user-friendly interface for exploring on-chain activities within the Oasis Network. It offers comprehensive data and analytics for all runtime environments.
Oasis Ecosystem Fund
In 2021, the Oasis Foundation launched the Oasis Ecosystem Fund, valued at $235 million as of December 2023, to support the development of Web3 on the Oasis Network.
ROSE Token
ROSE is the native token of the Oasis Network, used for gas fees, staking, delegation, and governance activities.
