Cortex (CTXC)
Cortex is a cryptocurrency project built on its own public blockchain, aptly named Cortex. This project is designed to seamlessly integrate artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms with smart contracts, offering users the ability to incorporate AI capabilities into their smart contracts. Cortex not only facilitates the use of AI in decentralized applications but also introduces an innovative incentive mechanism that promotes collaboration among users and model contributors. The ultimate goal of the Cortex platform is the development of "artificial general intelligence" (AGI).

Cortex addresses the challenge of integrating AI systems with blockchain technology. It enables machine learning researchers to upload well-trained data models to the Cortex public chain's storage layer. Users who require these AI models can utilize them for inferences and subsequently compensate the model developers. The Cortex Virtual Machine (CVM) plays a crucial role by synchronizing the model and data from the storage tier to the local site, executing the inference, and disseminating the result throughout the network.
History of Cortex
The journey of Cortex began with a successful private token sale in early 2018. From February 7 to March 7, 2018, Cortex conducted its CTXC tokens sale, attracting investments from notable entities such as Bitmain and FBG Capital. The tokens were sold at a rate of 1 ETH for 1500 CTXC, and the token sale successfully achieved its target cap of 40,000 ETH for 60 million CTXC, which constituted 20.01% of the total token distribution.
Launching ZkMatrix - Layer2 ZkRollup solution
Cortex has introduced ZkMatrix, a Layer2 solution on its blockchain, which employs zkRollup technology. This solution aggregates batch transitions on the side chain into a singular transaction on the main chain, aiming to enhance the transaction per second (TPS) rate and significantly lower the Endorphin fee for each transaction.
Cortex Virtual Machine
The Cortex Virtual Machine (CVM) is a pivotal component of the Cortex platform, known for its compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It extends this compatibility by adding support for on-chain AI inference, utilizing the GPU rather than the CPU to execute complex AI models on the Cortex chain.
AI inference engine - Synapse
Synapse is Cortex's deterministic inference engine, ensuring consistent AI inference results across diverse computing environments. This feature allows for reliable on-chain AI inference without the need for off-chain solutions, enhancing the integrity and reliability of AI operations on the blockchain.
AI smart contract and AI DApp
Cortex enhances the functionality of smart contracts and decentralized applications (DApps) by incorporating machine learning support. Developers can leverage the popular programming language Solidity alongside pre-existing AI models available on the Cortex storage layer to create AI-enhanced DApps and smart contracts, thereby broadening the scope of real-world applications.
Decentralizing AI research
Cortex is committed to fostering an open-source ecosystem that incentivizes AI researchers and developers to share their models. By decentralizing AI research, Cortex aims to promote greater collaboration and innovation within the AI community, encouraging more contributors to participate and share their work.
Cortex Blockchain
Cortex Blockchain is an open-source public blockchain that aims to resolve one of the most significant challenges faced by blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum today: on-chain AI execution. By providing a robust platform for the integration of machine learning models into smart contracts and DApps, Cortex is pushing the boundaries of blockchain technology and AI integration.
