Chromia (CHR)
Chromia is a blockchain platform designed for decentralized applications (dapps), addressing limitations of existing platforms and enabling a new generation of scalable dapps. Originally known as Chromapolis, the platform supports a variety of applications, especially those requiring high input/output capacity or complex data management.
Overview
Chromia serves as a general-purpose platform for numerous types of dapps. It is especially adept at handling applications like massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs), which demand significant resources. Unlike other blockchain platforms, Chromia can host entire game worlds, ensuring they evolve according to set rules and preventing cheating.

The platform offers the same transparency and decentralization found in other public blockchains. In Chromia, providers operate nodes that create blocks, replacing traditional miners. This model aims to maintain decentralization by requiring a larger number of node providers to exert control over the network compared to other blockchains.
Chromia allows each dapp to have its own sidechain, with fees for maintaining nodes covered by the dapp itself rather than individual users. This setup enables dapps to implement resource management policies that align with economic needs.
Chromia's approach is akin to cloud computing, where redundancy across multiple cloud providers ensures application continuity despite potential failures or censorship.
Staking
In November 2020, Chromia introduced staking for CHR tokens. Users can earn governance rewards with an annual percentage rate of up to 25%. The minimum staking period is two weeks, and once CHR tokens are locked into a staking contract, withdrawal requests take two weeks to process. Users can also participate in governance proposals and voting.
