Flux

Flux (FLUX)

Flux is a decentralized Web3 cloud infrastructure designed to offer scalable and globally distributed resources for running applications with high availability. It serves as a robust alternative to traditional cloud providers by utilizing a network of user-operated nodes, ensuring secure and reliable operations.

Overview

Flux provides an alternative to centralized cloud providers like AWS and Google Cloud through its decentralized network of over 15,000 nodes worldwide. This network offers substantial computational resources, including 111,500 cores, 193 TB of RAM, and 6.7 petabytes of SSD storage. The platform supports deploying decentralized applications with features such as redundancy and automatic failovers while being compatible with various code languages via Docker Hub containers. Operating on a UTXO-based blockchain, Flux uses a Proof-of-Work (POW) consensus with a modified Equihash algorithm for ASIC resistance. The project is community-owned, without venture capital or private sales, and block rewards are equally shared between miners and FluxNodes. The native currency, FLUX, is used for purchasing resources, collateralizing nodes, fueling transactions, and rewarding miners and node operators.

Technology

FluxNodes

Flux operates a decentralized network with approximately 15,000 nodes, providing geographic and operational decentralization. Nodes can be set up on personal hardware, VPS, or through community providers like Hostnodes and GoldieTech. The network ensures application uptime by allowing regional nodes to take over if one fails. The system supports data storage and replication, maintaining data integrity through node clustering and redundancy. Nodes must meet uptime standards to remain included, ensuring high performance. Node operators are incentivized with the POW native coin, FLUX, and can choose from three tiers—Cumulus, Nimbus, and Stratus—based on collateral, hardware specifications, and rewards.

FluxOS

FluxOS is a second-layer operating system that acts as the central interface for Flux operations. It provides a dashboard for managing application deployments, monitoring network status, and interacting with the Flux DAO governance model.

Parallel assets

Flux enables blockchain interoperability through its parallel assets, allowing the FLUX coin to exist on multiple blockchains. This capability enhances interaction with major blockchains and access to DeFi services, functioning similarly to token bridges. It facilitates asset movement across blockchains and offers developers the opportunity to run applications on various platforms while utilizing Flux's infrastructure.

Products

Flux Cloud

Flux Cloud is the foundational infrastructure of the Flux ecosystem, supported by over 15,000 nodes across 78 countries. It uses a peer-hosting approach for a highly redundant system, ensuring deployed applications remain online and accessible. Each application is deployed on at least three geographically decentralized nodes, incorporating redundancy, monitoring, and load balancing to maintain high availability. The system automatically redirects server requests in the event of a node failure, ensuring uninterrupted service.

Decentralized WordPress

WordPress on Flux allows for decentralized hosting of websites, e-commerce sites, and blogs, eliminating risks associated with outages. Hosting on Flux provides access to enterprise-grade infrastructure that ensures high performance and availability. WordPress sites on Flux are optimized for performance and cost-effectiveness, catering to a range of needs from personal blogs to large online platforms.

ZelCore

ZelCore is a non-custodial wallet that enables users to manage digital assets and engage in crypto trading across major exchanges. Supporting Trezor, Ledger, and other imported wallets, ZelCore offers comprehensive asset management on a single platform. Integrated with the Flux ecosystem, it serves as the default payment method for related products. The wallet ensures asset security with control over private keys, access to over 70 blockchains, biometric security, and continuous encryption, even when the application is closed.

SSP Wallet

The SSP wallet is a unique wallet-key combination that includes a Chrome browser extension and a mobile app. It offers enhanced security with dual signature capabilities and BIP-48 encryption. Transactions require authentication from both the wallet and mobile app, providing protection against unauthorized access. SSP is open source, encouraging community involvement in its development and the integration of new features.

FluxEdge

FluxEdge leverages Flux's decentralized approach to provide computational resources for demanding projects like AI, machine learning, and video rendering. As a marketplace, FluxEdge connects hardware providers with users needing computational power, promoting efficient use of GPU resources. It supports a community-driven computational network, allowing hardware providers to rent out their machines and set schedules, while clients can find resources to accelerate their projects.

FluxDrive Pro

FluxDrive Pro is a decentralized storage solution that uses API and IPFS for secure bulk uploading and cloud storage. It allows developers to store large assets like images and videos securely, ensuring data integrity and protection against loss. Integrated with Flux Cloud, FluxDrive Pro ensures content remains safe, encrypted, and permanently accessible.

XDAO

Launched in 2021, Flux Governance (XDAO) is a decentralized community-led structure for submitting and voting on proposals for Flux's future. The XDAO v2.0 upgrade introduces a governance token for broader community participation in decision-making processes. This version aims to balance voting power and enhance decision-making efficiency, ensuring community-driven governance.

FLUX

FLUX is the cryptocurrency powering the Flux ecosystem. It is used for purchasing resources, collateralizing nodes, fueling transactions on FluxOS, and rewarding miners and node operators. The total supply is capped at 440 million, distributed across various parallel asset chains or the native Flux chain without exceeding this limit.

Partnerships

Flux collaborates with several partners, including Lumen, Nvidia, OVHcloud, BMO, CoinMetro, CoinRequest, OTX, FIO, Firo, GetBlock, GoldieTech, GSR, JS13K Games, Kadena, Presearch, Rosetta, Seeed Studio, SimpleHold, SwapZone, and Zelcore. These partnerships enhance the capabilities and reach of the Flux ecosystem.
