Overview

LUKSO serves as a blockchain infrastructure, offering standards and solutions for both physical and digital consumer goods to enhance transparency, circularity, and responsible production. As a public and domain-specific blockchain, it facilitates the convergence of creativity, technology, and human interaction. LUKSO aims to be a digital interaction layer for social groups in the lifestyle sector, where fashion, gaming, design, and social media converge.

The mission of LUKSO is guided by three principles leveraging recent blockchain technological advancements:

  1. Unique digital identities: Facilitating interoperable digital identities for participants and objects, allowing seamless interaction and transactions across platforms.
  2. Virtualized experiences: Encouraging the integration of virtualization to share immersive digital experiences in lifestyle production and consumption.
  3. Tokenized communities: Enabling the flow of value through token economies to enhance customer experiences and relationships.

History

The concept of LUKSO was initiated by Marjorie Hernandez in 2017 while she was working at Ernst & Young’s Berlin Innovation Lab. Her experience with blockchain projects provided valuable insights into the industry. Fabian Vogelsteller, who has been involved in blockchain since 2013 and began developing at the Ethereum Foundation in 2015, collaborated with Marjorie. Together, they saw the potential for real-world blockchain applications and recognized the limitations of private, permissioned blockchains.

Fabian, known for creating the ERC-20 token standard and contributing to significant Ethereum projects, believed that launching independent networks was crucial for industries to fully harness blockchain's potential. This led to the launch of LUKSO (LYXe) in May 2020.

LUKSO foundations

LUKSO is built on several foundational elements:

  • Universal Public Profiles: These blockchain-based profiles for users and companies provide permanent digital identifiers, enabling universal logins and giving users control over their virtual assets.
  • Digital Certificates: LUKSO adds a digital layer to creative goods, making unique characteristics permanently visible.
  • Cultural Currencies: Tokens represent a new form of interest, status, and value globally, enabling measurable and transferable value in socio-creative activities.
